The dead tree is the withered wing. It’s about being used up, and unable to fly away. The tongue with the sun and moon coming from the nostril is a visual concept of the scent of never ending mud and rain. The hand is about the character trying to hold itself up, and the teeth between the fingers means that there are consequences to falling, the possibility of hurting others along the way down.
